What we collect

When you use Deenclaw, we store only what we need to deliver the service:

• Your WhatsApp phone number so we can reply to you.
• Onboarding info you choose to share (preferred name, city for prayer times, language, reciter).
• Conversation history so the bot can recall earlier messages and resume across sessions.
• Sunnah commitments you set (e.g. family members you have asked us to nudge you about).
• If you connect a Quran.com account: an OAuth token. We never see your password.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data to third parties. Ever.
• We do not share your phone number, conversation content, or any personal information with anyone outside the services strictly required to deliver Deenclaw.
• We do not run advertising on your data.
• We do not train AI models on your messages.

Third-party services we use

To provide Deenclaw, your messages pass through:

• Anthropic Claude - the AI model that drafts conversational replies. Anthropic is contractually prohibited from training on your messages.
• Quran Foundation Content API and User API - for verses, translations, tafsir, audio, bookmarks, streaks.
• Quran MCP at mcp.quran.ai - semantic search.
• Aladhan - public API for prayer times.
• WhatsApp - the messaging surface used to send and receive every reply.

How long we keep data

• Conversation history: retained while your account is active; pruned on a rolling basis to keep storage small.
• Onboarding preferences: retained until you ask us to delete them or block the bot on WhatsApp.
• Family member nudges: retained until you remove them via the bot or stop messaging it.

Your rights

• You can block Deenclaw or stop messaging it at any time. Send delete my data to have your account and history removed within 30 days.
• Email contact@tryalethic.com for any privacy question or data deletion request. We respond within 7 days.

Changes to this policy

We update this page if anything material changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
